AKS Internship Program

Building the foundation for your future success.

Our internship program is designed to give students insight into everything we do. We welcome students to apply as early as their freshman year, but all are encouraged to apply regardless of where they are in their education journey. Entering the program early provides the benefit of a multiyear experience.

Who Is Eligible?

Our internship program is open to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. You must have completed at least one year of higher education. Other requirements apply to the individual programs.

Compensation

This is a paid internship. You will earn an hourly wage with time and a half for overtime.

Gain valuable knowledge that only comes from field experience. Depending on your assignment, you’ll join our survey crew, construction inspectors, or design technicians and gain unique insights into why each team is critical to project success. You will build a fundamental understanding of how designs translate into the field, which we encourage in all engineers.

Who should apply?
Students with a declared major in civil engineering, forest engineering, environmental engineering, construction management, land surveying, or related fields.

Gain insights into the land development process and how policy translates to real projects. You’ll work collaboratively with professionals on real projects and develop an understanding of the role of the planner and landscape architect.

Who should apply?
Students with declared majors in planning, urban design, landscape architecture, or other related fields.

Get introduced to the work behind protecting and preserving natural areas in the Pacific Northwest. You’ll join our natural resources team and gain real-world experience in wetlands, working alongside our Professional Wetland Scientists and experience collaborating with other professional services.

Who should apply?
Students with declared majors in natural resources, wetlands, plant biology, or other related fields.

Learn the unique mindset behind marketing AEC services. You’ll join our marketing team and learn how we acquire work in the public and private sectors, how they differ, and the other values marketing brings to the AEC industry.

Who should apply?
Students with a declared major in marketing, business, public relations, communications, graphic design, or other related fields.

  • Must be a college student who has completed at least one year of higher education prior to participation
  • Apply to the program as early as freshman year for a multiyear experience
  • Other requirements apply to each program
  • Submit completed application with resume, cover letter, and three references
  • Commit to working full time as a paid intern for a minimum of 12 weeks
