Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R) provides fire protection for a 390-square-mile service area that includes the cities of Beaverton, Durham, King City, Newberg, North Plains, Rivergrove, Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin, West Linn, Wilsonville, and unincorporated portions of Clackamas, Multnomah, Washington, and Yamhill Counties. With 28 fire stations and staffed by more than 450 firefighters and paramedics, they are always ready to respond to emergencies at a moment’s notice.
Recently, TVF&R contacted our team to conduct a feasibility study for a new Logistic Service Center location. The new center needed to meet facility standards that support post-earthquake response and recovery functions. After reviewing several sites in the area, TVF&R chose a location in Tualatin, Oregon, which was the perfect choice to serve their needs. The site included a 40,000-square-foot building that was renovated to include a multibay fleet maintenance mechanic shop, a large supply warehouse with loading docks, as well as staff workspaces, meeting rooms, common work and storage areas, break rooms, and a workout room. The 4.5-acre site was designed to incorporate a storage yard, vehicle wash facility, fleet staging area, several access drives, an expanded parking lot, and a large stormwater quality and detention facility. This state-of-the-art service center was built to meet essential facility standards, with seismic upgrades to withstand a major earthquake.
The project was executed in collaboration with Merryman Barnes Architects, Inc. and Emerick Construction, and the result is a facility designed to operate for at least the next 30 years.
