AKS responds to Lolo Pass Road washout

ZIGZAG, OR

Late on a Friday afternoon, AKS surveyors were called out to the washed out Lolo Pass Road just east of Highway 26 on Mount Hood. A winter flood had washed away a portion of the roadway, isolating area residents. AKS crews worked all weekend on establishing survey control and identifying right-of-way for the roadway. AKS worked closely with Clackamas County and worked from hand-drawn sketches of the roadway design sent by the County. By Monday, crews were back out performing a topographic survey of the area. By the end of the week, the road was rebuilt and re-opened to local traffic.
