Scappoose Bay Marina Dredging
AKS team member, Blair Carlson, performed a hydrographic survey of the Port of St. Helen’s Scappoose Bay Marina and entrance channel using electronic and analog sounding equipment. He also performed a conceptual level analysis of dredging feasibility for the marina and entrance channel, including researching historic water levels, identifying dredging equipment, developing dredging templates, calculating quantities, developing preliminary cost estimates, and general consultation.
AKS is currently working directly for the contractor on this project, which involves the removal of approximately 40,000 cubic yards of sediment within the marina basin and its entrance channel. AKS helped the contractor develop a work plan, developed exhibits to help propose an alternate disposal pipeline route, and provided a project schedule. AKS is currently coordinating with vendors and the contractor to establish electronic positioning and logging equipment on the hydraulic dredge. AKS surveyors will establish control points within the project site that will be used for reference during the duration of the project. AKS is also responsible for providing a pre-dredge survey, regular progress surveys, and a post-dredge survey from September to November 2015. The results of these surveys will be used to calculate payment quantities, identify high spots during dredging, and document the final conditions after dredging is complete.
